Having split from the town of Wells in 1980, Ogunquit is a popular Maine destination for vacationers. You can understand why with its glorious rugged scenic cliff path... And the 3 1/2 mile white powdery sand Ogunquit Beach, and picturesque Perkins Cove. But on the weekend of December 11-13, 2009 Ogunquit welcomes those wishing to experience tree decorating, caroling, candlelight walks, concerts, visits with Santa, bonfires, a parade, and… well, a whole bunch more in this jam-packed Yuletide celebration weekend. Here’s some more details on the events… Ogunquit Christmas by the Sea – Friday December 11thIt all begins on Friday December 11th at 6:00pm at the Rotary Park, Perkins Cove with the Christmas tree lighting and Caroling event where you can drink hot chocolate and eat cookies. Sort of guaranteed to get you in the swing of the festivities.A candlelight walk takes you to a concert performed by the Ogunquit Performing Arts, and then on to Ogunquit Square for the town tree lighting ceremony with hot cider and cookies. The evening finishes with the traditional Bonfire at the Beach event.
Morning activities start at 9:00am with Hay Rides going through until 3:00pm. | |||||||||
